Mike Terry of Greenwood recently added a 1964 Grand Sport racing edition tribute car to his collection of rare Corvettes. The car uses an original 1964 frame with a modified rebuild to replicate the famous racing heritage of that era.
The engine consists of a Chevrolet small block bored out to 406 cubic inches. It has a moderate cam so it is a street-friendly car, and it has an incredible four-carburetor setup. They consist of four downdraft Delorto versions. The builder wanted no chromed parts to avoid chances of rust developing. The transmission is a stock 1964 Corvette four-speed as is the rear end, which is slightly modified to accommodate the geometry for the wider tires and side exhaust pipes.
The interior was modified with the Grand Sport style dash housing AutoMeter gauges with an aftermarket AM/FM, CD player and four-speaker system. The seats are high-back racing vintage with custom carpeting throughout. The PPG paint is Lamborgini White with red pinstriping along the large blue strip that contains metal flake.
The new engine has less than 300 miles on it, and this car is an absolute eye-catcher as it rolls down the highway. And since it gets only 5 mpg, be sure to take along a debit card or have deep pockets!
