Southern Plaza hosted its 10th annual Charity Car Show Saturday.

Organizer Chris Truran shared the story of the shopping center’s partnership with former IndyCar driver Sarah Fisher and their efforts to raise funds for charities close to their hearts: Kottage 4 Kids, Shop With a Cop and Noble of Indiana. Fisher will also be sponsoring a car show for the same agencies later this month.

The show was held under threatening skies, which kept the number of participants under expectations. However, the quality of classic cars and trucks on hand was impressive. There was a dragster on display as well as Fisher’s IndyCar.

Hix Wrecker Service provided a rig that hoisted the American flag high above the show in a salute to the 9/11 remembrance. A float from past Miracle Mile Parades was also on view.

Truran noted that in the past the show had been held in conjunction with the parade on Labor Day weekend. Since the parade is no longer held, show organizers have moved their event to the weekend after Labor Day.
Until next time, happy cruising!
