The Southsider Voice’s cruise-in on Friday showcased everything a car show should be: spectacular weather, a parking lot full of classic and sports cars and hot rods, 1960s and ’70s car-themed music, free jumbo chicken tenders from Chick-A-Boom and pizza from Little Caesars, a large, festive crowd and a 50-50 drawing.
The growing popularity of the monthly (May through October) event was evidenced by more than 100 show cars on display. I think Friday’s show was the best one yet – dating back to 2014 – as a lot of cars were making their first appearance.
Our wonderful sponsors are Ziebart, Don Shine Realty and Dant Insurance, and a big thanks goes to Beck Service Center, 6025 Madison Ave., for allowing us to use their lot.
There’s plenty of time to plan for the last cruise-in of the season, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7.
