At a time when standing for the national anthem is questioned, American patriotism was proudly displayed and greatly appreciated last month on Monument Circle and at the U.S. Nationals in Brownsburg.
A beautiful and meaningful American Pride 2011 Chevrolet Camaro and a First Responders Chevrolet Silverado re-emphasized American patriotism for thousands of high-performance and drag racing fans.
The vehicles are an artistic tribute to American pride, military strength and first responders as air brushed by renowned artist Mickey Harris at Mountain Muscle Cars (Cosby, Tenn.) in the heart of the Smoky Mountains.
The Camaro is a tribute to all military branches and the proud history of defending freedom around the world, depicting the famous battles of San Juan Hill, Iwo Jima, Korea and Vietnam. Harris’ artwork also features Presidents Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt and Gens. Schwarzkopf and Powell.
The Silverado honors first responders for their heroism during the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers and subsequent events that have required daring rescues.
The names of more than 400 first responders from 9/11 are on the bed cover with patches from units that responded to Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Penn. The front hood ornament has been replaced with an embedded piece of a window from the towers.
Harris also has air-brushed a search-and-rescue tribute ambulance, a Harley-Davidson honoring the military serving in Afghanistan, a 2010 Camaro auctioned for $175,000 at Barrett-Jackson to support Achilles Freedom Team and a 2012 Camaro for $100,000 to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.
He also did artwork for vehicles owned by Richard Petty, Ted Nugent and Jay Leno.
