Cruising to Edinburgh

By Bill Thorpe

Labor Day weekend played host to a number of car shows throughout central Indiana.

One of them was in Edinburgh, where the Parks & Recreation Department held its annual fundraiser. The day started out misty and chilly, but by noon the sun had come out and made for a nice second half of the show.

An original 1930s police paddy wagon made an appearance and was a big hit, especially with the children. The show attracted late-model Corvettes as well as rat rods and custom classics. An awesome Mustang set up for drag racing was also on display.

The Best of Show and Best Engine awards went to a full custom built truck by Wayne Luther of Indianapolis. His 1930 creation from a Model A Ford truck as a crew cab is a one-of-a-kind and has done well at most shows he’s attended.

He agreed to allow me to share his story in a “Car Nutz” article later this fall.
Until next time, happy cruising!
