Sue Likens from Greenwood had wanted a Mustang since she was in high school. She unsuccessfully tried to convince her parents to co-sign a bank loan for her back in the mid-1960s.

Eventually, marriage, children and everyday responsibilities took over her daily life, and the Mustang dream began to fade away.

Then after 40 years, her fantasy was realized in 2005 when buying a brand-new red Mustang. She joined the Mustang Club of Indianapolis and has been an active participant and board member. She attends activities, car shows and national road trips with the club.

Although a number of the club members like to tease Sue because her car came equipped with the 4.0 liter V-6 fuel-injected engine, she always stays right up front with the best of them on the interstates. She is proud to mention that she’s been stopped twice for speeding!

Her finest moments of Mustang ownership include taking hot laps on some major NASCAR speedways like Taladega and Charlotte. Next up for Sue is to experience a drive on the famous Tail of the Dragon, a section of road with more than 300 curves in 11 miles in Robbinsville, N.C.

Until next time, happy cruisin’!
