For those of you who are regulars on the central Indiana car show circuit, you will immediately recognize this Harley-Davidson, which belongs to Southsider Roman Leal, a devoted schoolteacher who spent the past 10 winters customizing his low rider into a one-of-a-kind offering.
Each winter he concentrated on chrome plating various parts and upgrading others with the aftermarket vendors serving the Harley-Davidson community. He added high compression heads to the engine but otherwise left the twin cam 88 as a stock engine.
He included accents to the original color of Sunglo Blue and chose a theme of tribal painted chrome parts to decorate many areas on the bike. His seat is a total custom piece that uses the original pan that came with the 2005 FXDL Dyna Super Glide Low Rider.
During the summer Leal rides his motorcycle to all of the car shows and fundraising events but does not use it as a daily driver. The odometer shows 17,000 miles, and the bike has more than $28,000 worth of customization.
He is most proud of the awards received at the Indianapolis World of Wheels the past several years.
Until next time, happy cruising!
