The Southsider Voice’s third cruise-in of the season went off in spectacular style Friday evening.
Although the show didn’t start until 6 p.m., classic car owners began arriving before 4 p.m., and the parking lot was nearly full by 5:30 p.m.
Under pleasant skies and near-perfect conditions, more than 130 classic cars, customized hot rods and even a dragster were displayed, and a large crowd milled the lot at 6025 Madison Ave., giving it a carnival-like atmosphere.
As with every cruise-in on the first Friday of each month from May through October, free food is available, compliments of Ziebart and Dant Insurance. The menu for Friday’s show featured sumptuous chicken tenders from Chick-A-Boom, pizza from Little Caesars, green beans and corn, chips and bottled water.
A big thanks goes to Beck Service Center owner Ben Stallings for allowing The Voice to use his parking lot. Thanks also goes to him, Jockamo Pizza and Ponderosa for providing door prizes. The cruise-ins continue to grow each month, and cars from the 1920s to today’s Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs are displayed.
I hope to see you at the Aug. 5 show.
